Florida Hospital, Sanford-Burnham research published

New research from Florida Hospital and Sanford-Burnham shows that overeating a higher protein diet increases lean body mass and resting metabolism.

New research from Florida Hospital?

The research examined how a high-protein, high-calorie diet impacts weight gain. It was conducted by Dr. Steven Smith at the Florida Hospital-Sanford-Burnham Translational Research Institute in Orlando and Dr. George Bray at Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, La., and was funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture?

The study kept 25 participants inpatient for 10 to 12 weeks, feeding them weight-gaining diets with varying amounts of protein and measuring body composition with a full-body scanner. A low protein diet resulted in less total weight gain but all of the gain was fat.

By contrast, the weight gain in high protein diets increased lean body mass and increased the resting energy expenditures in the participants.

?The next phase of research will evaluate the mechanisms that account for the increased energy burned,? said Smith. ?Understanding how the body increases calorie burning will provide insight into novel ways to rev up metabolism as a way to treat metabolic diseases, such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.?

Release Tesla's Research: Demand to release free energy research

video

The Energy Crisis is a lie, the problem was solved 100 years ago by a scientist named Nikola Tesla.

He had discovered a way to harness the naturally occurring electricity from the ionosphere, and then in turn rebroadcast it to individual relay stations that could be placed anywhere and were no larger then your average car antenna.

Each primary tower could produce renewable, safe, clean electricity, and would then broadcast it wirelessly to points as far (as his experiments in Colorado springs showed) as 30 miles away from the primary tower.

Nikola Tesla's primary investor, J.P. Morgan, thought he was investing in the world's first radio tower, but unknown to him, that was only one of its purposes and capabilities. The project was known as Wardenclyffe.

When JP. Morgan learned of the true capabilities of Wardenclyffe, the ability to harness an almost infinite amount of power and freely broadcast it wirelessly to anyone who had the proper antenna (with no way to monitor energy consumption) he immediately canceled all of Tesla's funding.

The pursuit of profit swept one of the worlds most revolutionary inventions ever conceived under the carpet, and away from the eyes of history.

Upon Nikola Tesla's death on January 7th, 1943, the U.S. Government immediately moved into his lab and apartment and confiscated all of his scientific research - including his work on Wardenclyffe and research on the ionosphere.

To this day, none of this research has been made public. This is a clear example of how corporate greed has bought our government, instead of providing this information for the benefit of ALL mankind. They have deliberately hidden it from public view in order to prop up corporations such as the oil, natural gas, coal, and nuclear power industries.

It is time we stand together and demand that Nikola Tesla's Research be released so that we can finally become a sustainable society.

On January 7th, 2012, the 69th anniversary of the loss of the Brilliant scientist Nikola Tesla, we will DEMAND that we stop being lied to., we will stand together and demand his research into harnessing electricity from the ionosphere, at a facility called Wardenclyffe, be released to the public.

NATO: 1 dead in noncombat incident in Afghanistan (AP)

KABUL, Afghanistan ? NATO says one of its service members has died in an incident that did not involve combat.

The statement said the incident occurred on Saturday, but provided no further details.

The death, the 28th in December, brought to 544 the number of NATO troops who died in Afghanistan in 2011.

The yearly total is considerably lower than for 2010, when more than 700 troops died. The numbers of wounded have remained consistently high, dipping only slightly from last year's total of more than 5,000 service members.

Despite the drop in the numbers of deaths, 2011 is the second-deadliest for NATO troops in the 10-year war.

Chris Brown, Rihanna Tweeting Each Other?

Multiple sources are writing that Chris Brown and Rihanna have been tweeted sweet messages back and forth to each other. This is a bad idea, and Rihanna needs to just leave him alone. First off, it?s really hard to be sure that they are actually sending these tweets to each other. They are not sending messages directly to each other and are definitely not doing Twitter mentions. I?m pretty sure that would violate the terms of their restraining order. Yes, it?s worth mentioning that they have a restraining order against each other until sometime in 2014. That hasn?t stopped them from sending tweets that seem to be obviously meant for each other. Here is the most recent one that has cause people to freak out: @chrisbrown: Love U more than u know! @rihanna: I’ll always love u #1LOVE I?m sure they would be the first to say that those tweets aren?t meant to go together, but one came right after the other. Maybe they think this is the only way they can communicate without getting in trouble. I?m surprised they are even allowed to have each other as Twitter followers. That doesn?t even make sense after what happened. If Rihanna [...]

Steve Jobs to receive honorary Grammy

Apple

By Athima Chansanchai

Even in the afterlife, Steve Jobs continues to rack up accolades. The Recording Academy is bestowing upon him?a Trustees Award,?an honorary Grammy, that will be acknowledged at the awards ceremony in February.

The Recording Academy previously honored Jobs' company, Apple, with a Grammy in 2002 for "outstanding technical significance to the recording field," the same year Jobs won the Producers Guild of America's Vanguard Award?for Pixar Animation Studios.

Here's what the Academy wrote about Jobs in giving him this posthumous honor:

As former CEO and co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs helped create products and technology that transformed the way we consume music, TV, movies, and books. A creative visionary, Jobs' innovations such as the iPod and its counterpart, the online iTunes store, revolutionized the industry and how music was distributed and purchased.?

The Trustees Award falls within the Academy's Special Merit Awards, which also include technical Grammy Awards and the Lifetime Achievement Awards. According to the Academy's press release, the Trustees Award "recognizes such contributions in areas other than performance" and is "determined by vote of The Recording Academy's National Board of Trustees."

Boston College : Oral history project that sparked cross words

Initiated in 2001 as a collaborative process between Belfast-based researchers and Boston College Irish studies experts, Boston College's Belfast Project oral history endeavour raised hackles from the outset.

Belfast-based author Danny Morrison was among the most vocal early critics.

The former Sinn Fein publicity officer accused the project's overseer, Boston College historian Thomas Hachey, of running a politically-biased project because its two main co-ordinators - journalist Ed Moloney and former IRA member Anthony McIntyre - were critics of Gerry Adams and Sinn Fein's peace process strategy.

Both reject claims that they pursued an anti-Adams agenda.

The only interviews yet to see the light of day were published in the Moloney-edited book Voices From The Grave (2010), in which former UVF prisoner David Ervine and former IRA man Brendan Hughes, both deceased, were interviewed extensively.

Those taped interviews included a claim by Hughes that Adams ordered the 1972 killing of mother-of-10 Jean McConville - a claim Adams has repeatedly denied.

The current effort to obtain the Belfast Project's interviews with Dolours Price began when a Belfast newspaper published an interview with her last February in which she claimed that Adams had been her IRA commanding officer, and that he'd ordered Mrs McConville killed and secretly buried. In May the US Justice Department served Boston College a subpoena on behalf of the British Government demanding the surrender of all interview material relating to McConville. However, the former republican and loyalist paramilitaries who took part in the Belfast project were assured their interviews wouldn't be published until after they died.

Two weeks ago a US judge rejected an effort by Moloney and McIntyre to have the case dismissed.

On Tuesday, the college was ordered to surrender its interviews with Dolours Price by yesterday. It indicated that it would.
